In this report, Public Record Office Victoria analysed 11 years of investigative and performance reports by Victorian integrity and oversight agencies and found that within the time period assessed, recordkeeping was a significant concern of Victoria's integrity system. More than half of all the 501 reports we assessed identified recordkeeping issues and/or made recommendations in relation to recordkeeping.
The most common themes around recordkeeping involve the creation and capture of records, and the general quality of information and data being poor and unreliable. Our recommendations include public offices ensuring that recordkeeping is appropriately resourced and prioritised and that PROV tools and guidance be used in meeting obligations.
